Can I just say that when it is 58F° inside it is cold!?!?!
58F° outside is not bad--in fact it is nice. But inside? and with no heater?
Let' just say "brrrr."
I can no longer feel my toes and fingers. Off to put on socks and more clothes before snuggling into bed.
Ouch... Another good thing about living in Finland is, that the houses are properly heated!
ReplyDeleteAlthough they do say it's healthy to sleep in a cool room *grin*
Today in the middle of January here in Kentucky it is raining cats and dogs and it is in the high 40's. That is unusual weather.
ReplyDeleteAmanda, I'm guessing you don't have heat in your house because it doesn't ever get very cold there? I think 58 would definitely be COLD inside! We turn our heat down at night to a cool 68 for sleeping under covers. Hopefully, the socks will do the trick for you! :)
ReplyDeleteCan you get an electric blanket in Tiawan?
ReplyDeletethat is cold indeed. how about getting a radiating heater? i got one here at a Lowe's/Home Depot and it cuts down my heating bill a lot. That's one alternative for a country with no central heating.
ReplyDeletebtw, about your previous post, i think it's great that you're open to try Chinese cultural foods and your policies made me laugh and they're great ones, i'll have to adopt them too and apply them to when i try cross-cultural foods.
There's hot and sour soup here and actually in the years i lived in HK, i never had that, my first time was here at a Chinese-AmericanIZED restaurant and to this day i don't really like that soup, but i'm glad you do. =)
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
blessings,
joyce
That's right--no central heat. No articial heat at all really.
ReplyDeleteI've not really seen electric blankets for sale around here.
However, I do have a nice down comforter my Taiwanese mom gave me when i first moved here. It just takes awhile to generate the body heat pocket underneath it each night. But, once I have that--it is nice and toasty under there, and it makes waking up quite difficult!!
AND, it does no good for sitting in my living room or in my study. in those rooms I just freeze. :D
For that I could get an oscilitating heater "fan." But, the amount of cold days to the cost of the heating device . . . I just haven't seen the benefit yet.
