I think the average American Christian is unaware of this. Only about 6 years ago, I was in Sunday School when the teacher talked about persecution, and said - of course, no one is killed for being a Christian nowadays - I spoke right up and disagreed mentioning the Voice of the Martyrs information. We do need to pray more.
