God is SO creative!!!

God is so creative!!

This tiny, beautiful pink flower (smaller than the tip of my pinkie) has leaves that MOVE when touched.

Check it out!!!

Anyone know WHY a plant would want to do this?  (Mom?  PawPaw?  Either of you have any clue?)

  1. WHY does the plant respond to touch stimulus? My guess would be it is a type of protective response --- the leaves are the "kitchens" for the plant..they make the food, so they need to be protected. Here is a link to an explanation of the HOW it works....at least how it works in the mimosa plant we have in the US.

OR another answer...Why does it happen...because God is a very creative Creator!!

  2. We always joke at home that my husband is an encyclopedia of useless knowledge. He knew exactly what this was called from greenhouse class in high school. He says it's a mimosa. Here's a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mimosa

  3. I reckon it's a Mimosa too. I used to play with them when I was a kid in Singapore.
